There are two ways to book a group cruise on Carnival, and they lead to different deals. Knowing which one you need saves time and money.

Option One: Several Cabins Online

Carnival’s cruising-as-a-group page says Carnival makes booking multiple staterooms at the same time easy, so a family or a few couples can reserve their cabins together in one session. This is not a group contract: each cabin pays the fare and promotion of the day, with no group hold, release date or group amenities. For small parties that settle their plans quickly, that can be perfectly fine.

Option Two: A True Group

For a larger party, Carnival’s help center describes group bookings as 8 or more staterooms arranged through its Group Department, or through a travel agent. A group booking adds a group fare, a hold on cabins while people decide, and help from group specialists with parties, meetings, dining and shore excursions for larger groups. The exact amenities depend on the contract, so ask for them in writing.

Organizer Tips for Carnival Groups

  • Ask how the group fare compares with today’s public promotions for each cabin type.
  • Get the release date and deposit schedule in writing.
  • Let each cabin deposit and pay with its own card against the group.
  • Book group shore excursions early; see Shore Activities for port ideas.
  • Remind everyone about passports or proof of citizenship well ahead.

Carnival sails from many US homeports, which helps groups drive to the ship instead of flying. Choosing a departure port most of your group can reach by car is one of the simplest ways to keep the total cost of a group cruise down.
